Our Pastor
Reverend Dr. Russell B. Williamson has faithfully served as Pastor of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, since July 26, 1986. Under his leadership, the church completed a $1.5 million building and renovation project to accommodate a growing congregation and expanded its ministries to include the Christian Leadership School, Family Life Ministry, Veterans and Black Marriage Day Observance, Alzheimer’s Seminar-Luncheon, and community collaborations with the American Cancer Society
and international missions.
A native of Milan, Tennessee, Pastor Williamson was licensed to preach in 1977 and ordained in 1979 by the late Reverend Obie B. Sartin, Sr. He served two years in the
U.S. Army and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 31 years.
He studied at Lane College, the Milwaukee Theological Institute, and Moody Bible Institute, and holds a certificate in Church Administration from the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta. He also pursued further study at Trinity Theological Seminary and received an Honorary Doctorate from Maryland Theological Seminary & College in Baltimore. Pastor Williamson is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha
Fraternity, Inc.
Throughout his ministry, he has served in numerous leadership roles within the Wisconsin General Baptist State Convention and the National Baptist Convention, U.S.A., including Congress President of Christian Education, General Secretary, and Executive Secretary of the State Home Mission Board.
Pastor Williamson is married to Mrs. Jenell McVicker-Williamson, his devoted partner
in ministry. Together they share four adult children, seven grandchildren, and six
great-grandchildren.
